    Overview

    Learn from the latest evidence and best practice guidelines to provide high quality care for sick paediatric patients and their families.

    The program is targeted towards nurses who are beginning in the specialty of paediatric nursing. While the role can be emotionally demanding, it’s also highly rewarding and offers a range of opportunities across a variety of hospital settings.

    The Specialist Certificate in Paediatric Nursing is a 25-credit point, part-time, coursework program conducted over two terms. It consists of two core 12.5 credit point online subjects.

    International students are welcome to study this course. However, please note that this course is not available to international students who require a student visa to study in Australia as it does not meet the onshore study requirements and it is not registered with CRICOS.

    Entry Requirements

    Admission criteria

    In order to be considered for entry, applicants must have:

    • Completed a Bachelor or Nursing (or equivalent qualification, i.e. Master of Nursing Science entry to practice), AND
    • Documented evidence of at least one year of clinical experience as a registered nurse working in an acute or sub-acute healthcare service within the preceding 5 years from the time of application, AND
    • Current unrestricted registration as a Division 1 Registered Nurse with AHPRA or equivalent registration with an international health practitioner regulation agency.

    Meeting the published entry requirements for this course does not guarantee selection.

    English language requirements

    All applicants to the University of Melbourne must satisfy the English language requirements. This may be achieved in a number of ways, including recognised previous study taught and assessed entirely in English or an approved English language test. If you are from a non-English speaking background, the required standard of English for this degree is one of the following English proficiency test scores:

    • If you need to undertake an English language test, you must meet one of the scores* below:
