    About

    This course will prepare you for a career in various media roles in the sports industry; whether you dream of becoming a broadcast journalist, newspaper/magazine editor, content creator, copywriter or public relations officer. Studying core journalism modules with a specific focus on sports, you will gain the necessary skills to produce engaging content on a variety of topics, across different channels. Explore what it means to be a sports journalist today and investigate the impact modern media has on society.

    • Understand the place and practice of journalism in the rapidly changing context of contemporary media and social media.
    • Build key critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills essential in a competitive professional environment.
    • Develop wide-ranging knowledge of the production, meaning and consumption of various news media, including sport and investigative reporting.
    • Gain practical reporting, editing and presenting skills across a range of digital media technologies, techniques and platforms.
    • Become an ethically informed, critically minded and highly reflective practitioner.

    You will gain a solid foundation for your chosen career path, with a strong focus on providing practically applicable skills that employers within the industry need and value. With both academic and practical experience, you will be prepared to unlock your future career aspirations.

    • Develop practical broadcasting and production skills through the use of our specialist teaching zones (e.g. Media Lab and Podcasting booths).
    • Your theoretical understanding will be enhanced by opportunities to learn, develop and demonstrate a wide range of practical and applied skills and competencies.
    • You'll work closely with our network of industry partners, who provide guest sessions, industry-based insight days and placements to UA92 students. Speakers include guests from the BBC, SKY, Reach and many more.
    • No traditional end-of-year exams. Assessments will be practical and competency-based where possible* including individual and group work in a range of formats such podcasts, reports, audio and visual projects and presentations.

    Foundation Year

    Completion of Tawjihiyya (Secondary School Certificate): minimum 60% average

    Integrated Year One

    48 new 2017 UCAS Tariff points or a minimum of 24 points in the International Baccalaureate (IB)

    First Year - Direct Entry

    Minimum 104 UCAS tariff points (B,C,C) or equivalent, or consider Foundation or International Year One
