    The School Psychology program

    About

The School Psychology program is a two-year, thesis-based graduate (MA) program that balances theory, practice, and research. It follows a practitioner-scholar model that emphasizes the importance of evidence-based practice and maintaining knowledge of current research.

    Theoretical Foundations

The School Psychology program builds and extends on the foundational knowledge that you have obtained in your undergraduate psychology degree. Coursework is focused on developing a theoretical understanding of learning and behaviour in a developmental context, as well as conceptual framework for professional practice as a psychologist.

    Practical Applications

The development of practical skills is integrated throughout all courses in the School Psychology program. Classroom-based learning is supplemented with intensive practica in school-based intervention and assessment. These practicum experiences culminate in a 600-hour internship. Career Options

Most of our graduates work as psychologists in the school system. Others continue on to doctoral programs in psychology. School Psychologists are currently in high demand across Canada.
