Veterinary Nursing and Applied Animal Behaviour

    About

This four year programme combines the practical training and work experience required for you to become an RCVS registered veterinary nurse, alongside a broader programme of study for a full Bachelor of Science with honours degree. Both of our Veterinary Nursing and Applied Animal Behaviour degrees are accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), and provide students with the expert nursing care skills and experience required to register with the RCVS as a registered veterinary nurse, following graduation. Led by The University Centre of West Anglia (UcWA), this unique course offers 1800 hours of placement experience as well as 1190 hours of guided learning in the form of lectures and practical sessions. The course fundamentally gives the student the opportunity to acquire and demonstrate the Day One Skills and Competencies required of Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN) set out by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). The core veterinary nursing modules are combined with placement within an official Training Practice. Completion of an online, reflective nursing progress log (NPL), and a broader programme of study and training in scientific theory and principles, with particular emphasis on the study of applied animal behaviour and animal welfare are key components of the course.
