    Winter School in Biomedical Sciences

    About

    Biomedical sciences combine knowledge and questions of experimental medicine with methods of molecular biology and cell biology. This international programme is designed as an intensive time of studies and research with a specific and practical training that qualifies for success in academia or the private sector. IMBS modules focus on the following topics: pharmacology and toxicology, materials and microsystems, molecular and cellular biology, immunology and pathology, molecular oncology and cardiology, and bioinformatics and bioethics. In addition, participants chose a personal research project. Each research project is individually supervised and involves eight weeks of lab work - that is seven weeks of experimental work followed by a week of data analysis - and a written lab report in the format of a scientific research publication. Furthermore, the students will receive specially designed lab training, scientific and intercultural communication training, and a regular German language course. The programme is tailored to the interests of international graduate students in life sciences or medicine with professional experience. Applicants should hold at least a Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in biology, biochemistry, medicine, chemistry, pharmacy, or a related field and have proof of their English proficiency (minimum B2 level). The successful participation in the programme concludes with a Diploma of Advanced Studies in "Biomedical Sciences" (DAS) with a total of 30 credit points (CP) in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Credit Points: Requirements In order to be awarded credit points, the following is required: preparation according to the specifications and material provided by the professors active participation in class and in the lab reading and self-study active participation in group presentations written and oral examinations
