Overview

The Professional Certificate in Wellbeing Coaching is designed for students who are interested in scientifically grounded approaches to understanding coaching in the context of, and for, wellbeing and wellbeing cultures. The course aims to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and abilities to apply coaching approaches relevant to positive psychology and wellbeing science principles to real-world contexts. The course emphasises critical thinking and contextually relevant analysis and application of concepts.

The course provides a foundation of the contemporary developments of the wellbeing coaching field; explores key elements, theories, practices, and perspectives from a range of scholars and practitioners; and considers strategies for translating the wellbeing coaching science into practice. The course draws on a variety of pedagogical approaches to promote deep learning, connection with others, and critical scholarship, providing students with skills to apply their knowledge in the future.

International students are welcome to study this course. However, please note that this course is not available to international students who require a student visa to study in Australia as it does not meet the onshore study requirements and it is not registered with CRICOS.

Pathways

Graduates may apply to progress to the University of Melbourne's Graduate Certificate in Wellbeing Science, or Master of Applied Positive Psychology, with advanced standing for equivalent subjects.

Entry Requirements

Admission criteria

To be considered for entry into this course, you must have:

A bachelor’s honours degree (or equivalent) in a directly related discipline, OR
A three-year undergraduate qualification in any discipline AND at least 50 credit points (or equivalent) of graduate study in a directly related discipline, OR
A three-year undergraduate qualification in a directly related discipline AND at least two years of documented relevant work experience.

Disciplines relevant to this course include business, economics, education, management, medicine, political science, psychology, public health and sociology.

English language requirements

All applicants to the University of Melbourne must satisfy the English language requirements. This may be achieved in a number of ways, including recognised previous study taught and assessed entirely in English or an approved English language test. If you are from a non-English speaking background, the required standard of English for this degree is one of the following English proficiency test scores:
