You will develop a scientific background to allow you to interpret and apply scientific principles to the management of agricultural systems, be they plant, soil or animal.
- Access the latest agricultural techniques and technology at our innovative SMART Farms. With eight properties covering 3,655 hectares, including farms within minutes of campus and a commercial scale feedlot, the UNE SMART Farms are diverse and valuable teaching and research resources that you will utilise during your course. The farms support a range of disciplines including grazing and intensive livestock, cropping, pastures, poultry, genetics, and precision agriculture.
- Learn hands-on skills and techniques in our state-of-the-art glasshouses and animal housing and handling facilities.
- Gain formal practical experience in agricultural enterprises and apply coursework theory to workplace situations during your studies to improve your employability as a graduate.
- Hone your skills in communicating in a clear and strategic way and apply your professional judgment and knowledge of the ethical responsibilities associated with agriculture and law degrees.
- If you are a high-achieving student, you may choose to undertake Honours in law in your final year of study. This pathway can lead you to higher degree research opportunities and enhance your career options.
- Use innovative technology to study online or join us on campus and take advantage of our small staff-student ratio and supportive environment. If you choose to study online, some units with the Agriculture component of your course include mandatory intensive schools on campus.

Q Fever
It is a condition that all students enrolled in this course must be vaccinated against Q Fever (unless initial skin test indicates pre-existing immunity). This must be completed as soon as possible and by no later than the end of the first trimester of study. Q Fever screening and vaccination can be arranged through the University Medical Centre, or through your own GP. The cost of the vaccination program is separate to tuition fees.
Study online
Most of our students choose to study online across three study periods with 24/7 tutor support* and fit study around work and family commitments. Uniquely, our online students are mostly over 30 and bring valuable experience with them. They form a community of adults juggling the same challenges and priorities and who bring their life and work experience together at UNE in order to become future-fit and better respond to a rapidly changing world.
Study on campus
Many of our students choose to take advantage of the on-campus lifestyle in Armidale, in the beautiful New England region, with access to unparalleled support, accommodation and sporting facilities. These students are often starting their first degree and have left school recently. Through access to academic and career support they get a fantastic start to their careers.
