    You'll study a range of courses during your honours year that will help you hone the advanced knowledge and skills required to complete quantitative research.

    You'll also work closely with internationally respected researchers and academics who will guide you through your studies towards writing a thesis, a major part of your honours program that can open gateways to new opportunities.

    Entry Requirements

    Minimum entry score

    Select where you studied and your qualification to see the minimum entry score you need to be considered for this program.

    Use the minimum entry score as a guide. Your score must be at least equivalent to the required Australian Year 12 ATAR score. Entry requirements are subject to change.

    Prerequisites

    • a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in economics, or
    • a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) that includes successful completion of study in mathematics and/or statistics and/or econometrics (equivalent to 2 units at level 2 or higher at The University of Queensland), and
    • satisfy the Executive Dean (or delegate) that the applicant is qualified to undertake the program based on the applicant's academic records and subject to completion of additional work or an interview, if requested.

    You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 5.5 or higher on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification. Approval is required from the Executive Dean (or delegate) where the bachelor's degree was completed more than two years prior to commencement of the Bachelor of Economics (Honours). If enrolment in the Bachelor of Economics (Honours) is approved, the Head of School may set conditions.

    IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ

    TOEFL iBT (including Paper Edition) - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19.

    PTE Academic - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands.

    BE - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills.

    CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands.

    OET is not accepted.
