    The degree starts with core courses  in areas such as analytics, accounting and economic theory. These will give you a solid grasp of business fundamentals that you can apply to a range of careers. 

    In your specialisation you will focus on property valuation, development and investment. Specific areas include building evaluation, planning and land use, property law and economics, property practice, investment and development, and entrepreneurship.

    Career

    With a 9.5% increase in demand for skilled workers in real estate by 20261, UniSA offers a unique job guarantee for property graduates. Eligibility criteria includes:

    • Graduates must meet the requirements to remain and work in Australia post study2.
    • The guarantee is only available to students commencing study from 2024.
    • Students must be enrolled in a property program for two-thirds of their total enrolment (equivalent to 2 years full-time).
    • The guarantee applies only to students who exit their property degree with a minimum GPA of 5.
    • Students must include either an internship or work placement as part of their study.
    • Students must complete the self-paced online module From Application to Interview: Presenting Your Best Self.
    • Graduates who do not secure independent employment (full or part-time) after one month of graduating are eligible to claim the three-month, full-time job guarantee3.
    • Students must meet behavioural and performance standards over the course of the three-month employment period.

    • Commercial property analyst: researching market trends and statistics to forecast the industry future; determining the best use of finances; performing due diligence research in order to broker real estate deals; working with sellers and buyers.
    • Land and property valuer: providing advice on financing and valuation; analysing investments; managing portfolios; calculating values by considering market demand, future trends and other factors; valuing office, retail, industrial and residential properties for sale and purchase, bank lending and preparation of financial statements.
    • Portfolio manager: making property investment decisions and carrying out investment activities on behalf of clients or institutions; implementing investment strategies; managing day-to-day portfolio operations.
    • Property developer: researching land and property opportunities and evaluating the feasibility of a project; assessing the best use for the land or property; planning the property development, including the schedule and costs; working with architects, builders, and local councils.
    • Property funds manager: providing advice for clients on where and how to invest; improving the value of a property; implementing an investment strategy; managing portfolios of trading activities.
    • Sales and leasing consultant: developing and implementing sales and leasing proposals for commercial land and property; negotiating lease and sales transactions; generate listings and service existing client sales. 

    Professional accreditation and recognition

    The Bachelor of Business (Property) meets the education requirements for graduates to apply to be registered as Valuers by The Board of Valuers, Appraisers and Estate Agents Malaysia

    The program has been formally accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and provides the academic base for membership.

    The program has been formally accredited for Associate Membership and Associate Membership with Certified Practicing Valuer (CPV) Certification of the Australian Property Institute (API). To be elevated to CPV, associates of the API will need to have met the supervised valuation experience requirements as set out by the API. All graduates of this program will need to comply with the conditions specified in the agreement.

    This program meets the education requirements for graduates to apply to be registered as Valuers by The Board of Valuers, Appraisers, Estate Agents and Property Managers, Malaysia.

    Undergraduate – you must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 program or an equivalent program in your home country or a recognised Pathway or Foundation Studies Program. If you are an international student studying Year 12 in Australia you need to apply via the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC).

    Postgraduate – At a minimum you must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree, to the required standard, from a recognised higher institution in Australian or the international equivalent and/or the equivalent professional work experience. The University offers both coursework and research degrees.
