    Welcome to the Department of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases! Since 1884, we have been passionately advancing research and training in infectious diseases. Here, you’ll find a vibrant community where foundational science meets hands-on clinical experience, all aimed at tackling the challenges of infectious diseases.

    Our department blends strong basic science research with comprehensive graduate training, offering exceptional clinical microbiology and infectious disease care, along with valuable post-graduate training. You’ll explore core disciplines such as molecular pathogenesis, immunobiology, antimicrobial mechanisms, microbial resistance, and epidemiology.

    Admission requirements

    The following are minimum requirements to be considered for entry into the Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases MSc program. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.

    • Admission requirements for the Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases MSc

      • Degree requirements:
        You must have earned an honours or major in:
        • Science
        • Medicine
        • Dentistry
        • Veterinary medicine
          Additionally, you need at least 12 credit hours of microbiology coursework.
      • Additional requirements:
        All applicants must also meet the minimum admission and English language proficiency requirements of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
