The Collaborative PhD program offers outstanding graduate students the opportunity to receive training at the University of Manitoba and a collaborating university outside of Canada. The program provides a diverse educational experience, exposing students to research and scholarship at two universities.

Admission requirements
The following are minimum requirements to be considered for entry into the Collaborative (PhD) program. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
Admission requirements are those of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
To be considered for admission to the Collaborative (PhD) program, you must:
- Have a master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 credit hours of full-time study.
Exceptional students with an honours bachelor’s degree may be considered for entry into the PhD program. For details, please see the PhD General Regulations section in the Academic Calendar.
In addition to the admission requirements described here, all applicants must meet the minimum admission and English language proficiency requirements of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
If University of Manitoba is the lead university
The student must have been admitted to a PhD program at the University of Manitoba. If not currently enrolled in a PhD program, then the student must apply for admission to a specific unit-based program at the University of Manitoba. Following admission, the student must contact the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies to request entry to a Collaborative program.
If University of Manitoba is the partner university
The student must apply for admission to the collaborative PhD Program at the University of Manitoba. The collaborative program agreement must be defined and presented as part of the admission application.
