    About Graduate Diploma Music Performance

    The Graduate Diploma in Music Performance is designed for specialized, intensive work in performance by talented instrumentalists and singers who have already achieved a significant level of proficiency technically and artistically, and whose career goal is to become professional musicians.

    With opportunities to perform in solo, chamber, operatic and orchestral settings both on and off campus, the diploma program allows students to principally focus on developing and honing their performance skills to a higher level.

    The Graduate Diploma has two modes of delivery 1) in-person training on campus; and 2) digital training using online platforms. The Digital mode of delivery of the Graduate Diploma in Music Performance is offered for instruments only.

    The diploma can normally be completed in one academic year (September to April). The diploma may be pursued following a BMus or an MMus degree. All students will be required to complete it within a maximum of two years.

    Candidates are required to have one of the following: a BMus; a four-year honours baccalaureate in music; an equivalent degree, or diploma. A 75 per cent (B+) average is required for the undergraduate degree or diploma. In addition, applicants must pass an audition. Students must understand, speak and write either English or French fluently. In addition, they must have a passive knowledge of Canada's other official language, French or English. According to university regulations, students can write their papers and exams in the official language of their choice (either English or French).
