    About

    The M.Sc. Biomedical Engineering expands and deepens knowledge and skills in engineering sciences and human medicine. It is supported by the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the TU Darmstadt in cooperation with the Department of Medicine of the Goethe University Frankfurt. 80% of the course content is offered by the TU Darmstadt (e.g. engineering sciences, computer science, social sciences and humanities). 20% of the course content is offered by the Goethe University Frankfurt (human medicine).

    Entry Requirements

    Applying with international qualifications (language requirements, application deadlines): International Admission. Requirements for admission to the Masters degree programme are comprised of a “Bachelor of Science” degree in Biomedical Engineering of the Technical University of Darmstadt and of the Goethe' University or an equivalent degree. Admission to the Masters Degree programme may also depend on additional requirements. Specific degree entrance requirements may be found here and in the competences description.

    English Program Requirements

    You must pass the “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang” (DSH-2) as evidence that your spoken and written command of the German language is adequate for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes for which the language of instruction is German.

    Participating in the DSH at the Studienkolleg is subject to charge.

    Career

    Biomedical Engineering is considered a promising discipline with high growth potential. Accordingly, the opportunities for graduates of this degree programme on the job market are very good not least because they are offered a large number of fields of activity. Biomedical engineers are employed, for example, in the medical technology industry, in hospitals and various branches of the electrical industry. There they work in the areas of development, construction, assembly, manufacturing, production, system planning, quality assurance and management, among others. Due to their interdisciplinary knowledge and their ability to think in terms of systems technology, they are particularly qualified to take on management functions. It is important to start early in the degree programme to gain practical work experience in relevant organisations. In this way students can promote themselves as competent professionals in practice and make important professional contacts. The likelihood of finding a good position is definitely heightened if the student is flexible when it comes to commuting or even moving abroad.
