About Master of Mechatronics

The interdisciplinary M.Sc. Mechatronics combines Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Precision Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering and Informatics, aiming at designing and producing integrated mechanical-electronic systems with automated and intelligent functions. Through the Advanced Design Project, the programme is at the same time particularly practical and research-oriented. The programme offers the choice of many elective subjects and/or the selection of an area of specialisation. It is possible to spend entire semesters in a foreign country. For the setup of the personal examination and study plans, the integrated mentor system provides guidance and support.

Entry Requirements

Applying with international qualifications (language requirements, application deadlines): International Admission. Requirements for admission to the Masters degree programme are comprised of a â€œBachelor of Scienceâ€ degree in Mechatronics of the Technical University of Darmstadt or an equivalent degree. You must pass the “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang” (DSH-2) as evidence that your spoken and written command of the German language is adequate for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes for which the language of instruction is German.

Participating in the DSH at the Studienkolleg is subject to charge.

Career Opportunities after Completing Master of Mechatronics

Graduates of the degree programme can apply themselves in different professional fields. They may be working as music teachers at private or municipal music schools but also with musical organisations and institutes or in exhibition, art, culture or event management. Depending on the second component the students choose in their Joint Bachelor of Arts programme, other career opportunities can be found in schoolbook and textbook editing, in publishing houses (e.g. in editing), in radio, TV and newspaper editorial teams, in PR and advertisement agencies, in libraries and archives, in international organisations, at Goethe Institutes as well as in the cultural sector (e.g. as dramaturge at theaters). With additional business qualifications, they can find employment in business enterprises (e.g. in marketing and distribution or in human resources). For this reason it is important to start gaining practical work experience in relevant organisations early in the degree programme. This way students can promote themselves as competent professionals in practice and make important professional contacts. The likelihood of finding a good position is definitely heightened if the student is flexible when it comes to commuting or even moving abroad.
