About Human Geography: Globalisation, Media, and Culture

The Master's programme in "Human Geography: Globalisation, Media and Culture" focuses on renegotiating geographical relations between culture and society in the course of globalisation processes. Following an interdisciplinary approach, emphasis is placed on "global topics" and issues regarding social and cultural challenges of our time, including the following: How has the connection between culture, space, and society been transformed in the global age? What challenges have arisen? How can these problems be dealt with politically and geo-ethically? What impact and significance do media and media transformations of our world have on this? We offer you the opportunity to discover with us exciting phenomena of an entangled globalised world in an international academic context. A key feature of our study programme is the combination of theoretically grounded and practice-oriented teaching elements. We offer our students not only an in-depth exploration of scientific concepts and issues, but also a wide range of practice-oriented courses – from empirical research projects to media workshops (e.g., camera and editing techniques, blogging, and digital geography).
