The Bachelors degree programme in Technical Education: subject area Food Science is divided into three areas: the vocational subject area Food Science, the teaching subject, and Vocational and Business Education. These three areas are studied in parallel from the first to the sixth semesters. In addition, students also select elements from the area of key transferable skills to suit their interests, and complete practical training. Students choose one of the following teaching subjects: Chemistry, German, English, Protestant Religious Education, Catholic Religious Education, Mathematics, Physics, Politics, Spanish or Physical Education. Instead of selecting a teaching subject, students may also choose Social Education & Community Work / Special Needs Education in Vocational Education. The course of study is designed to comprise a Bachelors degree programme lasting six semesters followed by a Masters degree programme that takes four semesters. An interest and a sound knowledge of science (e.g. chemistry) are the prerequisites for completing the degree programme. Students should also enjoy and have an interest in working with young adults, and should have good communication and social skills. Students without a relevant vocational qualification must complete 52 weeks of practical training before registering their Masterâ€™s thesis.

Application dates for a subject combination with at least one restricted subject:

First-year students
(Application for the first semester is only possible for the winter semester)

Applicants from Germany and other EU countries: June 1st July 15th of the year
Applicants from outside the European Union: April 15th May 31st of the year (application via uni-assist)

At the end of the online application, you will automatically be forwarded to a cover letter (the so-called application for enrollment). Sign this application for enrollment (handwritten or digital) and put it together with the required documents into one PDF document, which you can then upload using the upload link provided. The required documents include your qualification for admission to higher education (e.g. Abitur) and any other supporting documents such as practical training certificates or evidence of language proficiency. We also need proof of your health insurance and evidence that you have paid the semester fee. At the end of the online application, all required documents are listed and must be uploaded as a scan of the original documents by September 30th, 11:59 p.m. Please do not forget to upload your photo for the LeibnizCard . In September, you will receive your enrolment documents, an invitation to the welcome event for new students and information about any preparatory courses that may be offered.
