About German Studies as subject in the Bachelors Teacher Training Course for Technical Education (Bachelor of Science)

Students embark on the subject in the 1st and 2nd semesters via compulsory modules L1 Introduction to Literary Studies and S1 Introduction to Linguistics. These models provide an overview of the key methods, topics and theories of the relevant subject, and a number of working techniques are acquired. From the 3rd semester, students can take module D1 Introduction to Teaching Methodology, K TE combination module Technical Education and a module from the compulsory elective area. Module D1 consists of an introduction to teaching literature and an introduction to language teaching. These two courses should be taken following the completion of the relevant introductory module. Module K TE involves a specialisation course in the area of literary studies and an advanced course in the thematic area of grammar. This module should also be taken after completing the relevant introductory modules. In the compulsory elective area, students can select a literary studies module (L3-L4) and a linguistics module (S3-S5, S7) from the 3rd semester. The Bachelors thesis is written in the subject area or in the second subject during the 6th semester. At the end of the online application, you will automatically be forwarded to a cover letter (the so-called application for enrollment). Sign this application for enrollment (handwritten or digital) and put it together with the required documents into one PDF document, which you can then upload using the upload link provided. The required documents include your qualification for admission to higher education (e.g. Abitur) and any other supporting documents such as practical training certificates or evidence of language proficiency. We also need proof of your health insurance and evidence that you have paid the semester fee. At the end of the online application, all required documents are listed and must be uploaded as a scan of the original documents by September 30th, 11:59 p.m. Please do not forget to upload your photo for the LeibnizCard . You can find information on this in the application for enrollment at the end of the online application. In September, you will receive your enrolment documents, an invitation to the welcome event for new students and information about any preparatory courses that may be offered. Please note that some degree programmes offer preparatory courses well before term starts.
