About Science and Society (Master of Arts)

The Project module, taken in the second and third semesters, takes centre stage in this degree programme. During the project, students build on the expertise and professional skills gained from the interdisciplinary basic module and the specialisation and compulsory elective module. The basic module introduces students systematically to the thematic interrelation of the degree programme and encompasses sociological, economic and scientific-philosophical perspectives. In the specialisation and compulsory elective module, students acquire expertise in the area of higher education legislation as well as in the educational and career pathways of university graduates. In addition, they also gain an overview of the key institutions, actors and regulatory structures of the academic system at the national and European level, as well as their areas of conflict and consensus. Throughout the degree programme, students can gain skills in qualitative and quantitative empirical social research and then apply these skills during their research project. How to Apply for Science and Society (Master of Arts) at Leibniz University Hannover

You can use our online application portal to enrol any time between 1 June and 30 September. To be able to do this, you will need a qualification for admission to higher education. At the end of the online application, you will automatically be forwarded to a cover letter (the so-called application for enrollment). Sign this application for enrollment (handwritten or digital) and put it together with the required documents into one PDF document, which you can then upload using the upload link provided. The required documents include your qualification for admission to higher education (e.g. Abitur) and any other supporting documents such as practical training certificates or evidence of language proficiency. We also need proof of your health insurance and evidence that you have paid the semester fee. At the end of the online application, all required documents are listed and must be uploaded as a scan of the original documents by September 30th, 11:59 p.m. Please do not forget to upload your photo for the LeibnizCard . You can find information on this in the application for enrollment at the end of the online application. In September, you will receive your enrolment documents, an invitation to the welcome event for new students and information about any preparatory courses that may be offered. Please note that some degree programmes offer preparatory courses well before term starts.
