About Bachelor of Physics

Physics is concerned above all with the analysis of basic processes in our universe and their mathematical description. At the same time, it makes important contributions to the specific and innovative development of techniques and technologies in industry and to solutions for global problems such as environmental protection and energy consumption. The programme develops studentsÂ´ skills in experimental physics, incl. mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, optics, quantum physics, etc. and competences in theoretical physics, incl. electrodynamics, statistical physics, etc. Additionally, students choose one of four minor subjects(chemistry, electronics, computer science or philosophy) and acquire soft skills, e.g. in English-language proseminars, science communication or in language courses. Furthermore, students choose among six specialisations (theoretical physics, biophysics, particle and nuclear physics and three branches of solid state physics) for their bachelor thesis.
