    About

The unique profile of the master's degree program in German-French Studies / Études franco-allemandes at the Universities of Bonn and Paris Sorbonne derives from the programs bi-national philological orientation. Students in this program primarily study the main subjects of French and German studies in equal parts. German-French Studies convey in-depth, specialized and theoretical knowledge in the areas of philology and cultural studies on an interdisciplinary and intercultural level. The contrastive orientation of this degree program, in which German and French philology are studied both at a French university (1st year of studies) and at a German university (2nd year of studies), allows students to gain first-hand experience with the methodological differences in the two science nations. A well-grounded education in literature and linguistics is key to an independent, thoughtful and methodologically adequate work method in central topics of the two fields. Establishing an individual profile and research emphasis–in the sense of an academic or occupational qualification–is possible and desirable. Graduates of this degree program receive their masters degree as a double diploma from both universities. Possible lines of work: Cultural/research management, Franco-German cultural/economic relations, journalism, public relations, media/communications industry (advertising, PR, translation), book industry (publishers, libraries, booksellers), adult education, international organizations/public authorities, tourism, academia (teaching/research at universities, research institutions, etc.)
