    About Master of Political-Historical Studies

    Political education is a necessary element of a free and open society that, in the course of the history of the Federal Republic of Germany, has evolved into a separate policy area. Effective work in this field requires not only thorough and up-to-date knowledge of politics, contemporary history, media and economics but also a high level of competence in methodologies and didactics. The master's degree program for continuing education in Political-Historical Studies is offered by the University of Bonn in close cooperation with political foundations, museums, media organizations and institutions of political-historical education and mediation. The program straddles the disciplines political science, history and media studies. It is aimed at university graduates with a minimum of one year of relevant work experience who wish to gain additional qualifications that are both practice-oriented and academically sound. Possible lines of work: Work in political-historical education and mediation, museums/historic sites, libraries/archives, (political) foundations, adult education, national authorities/ministries, international organizations (IOs), non-governmental organizations NGOs), academia (teaching/research at universities, research institutions, etc.) Tuition: € 5,400 total Master's degree programs for continuing education are subject to tuition. The amount of tuition depends on the range of courses offered in the particular degree program and is based the programs scale of charges.
