About Bachelor of GGNB Systems Neuroscience (PhD)

The scientific profile of the programme is characterised by the research foci of the hosting Centre for Systems Neuroscience (CSN). Translational neuroscience focuses on research that enables the transfer of results from basic science to human diseases. An additional focus covers functional brain imaging techniques. In GÃ¶ttingen a cluster of EEG-labs flanks groups operating several MRI systems at different field strengths for use on humans and experimental animals. The MRI capacity was recently expanded by a new MR-imaging centre for non-human primates at the DPZ. Collaborative projects focus on research addressing human brain disorders and sensory information processing. Finally, animal models of systems level processes is the third focus of the CSN. Animal models (insects, rodents and non-human primates) provide an irreplaceable component of systems level neuroscience research to elucidate the neural basis of sensory information processing, motor control, diseases of the nervous system and higher cognitive functions. The CSN includes (and benefits from the close interactions amongst) the groups in the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience and the Bernstein Focus Neurotechnology as well as the Collaborative Research Centre 889.
