    The Solicitors’ Practice Programme is designed for those preparing for the new route to qualifying as a solicitor in England and Wales.

    Training to be a solicitor is an exciting, yet challenging undertaking. The Law School has been training solicitors for decades, many of whom have gone on to achieve prized positions in the legal world, so you can be assured that we have the ideal programme to help you excel in the SQE and prepare you for a career as a solicitor.

    Over two 10-week terms, you will study the requisite material to prepare for the SQE 1 and SQE 2 respectively, equivalent to a Postgraduate Diploma.

    If you select the Master of Laws (LLM) pathway, this will be followed by an additional 5-week elective term and submission of a legal practice research project to deepen your understanding of an area of legal practice that is of particular interest to you.

    Who is this course for?

    This course is for holders of undergraduate UK law degrees (or non-Law graduates with a GDL) who wish to qualify as Solicitors in England and Wales and who wish to achieve an academic qualification as part of their preparation for the SQE assessments.

    You will build on your existing legal knowledge and will acquire the knowledge and skills required both for the SQE assessments and for practising as a Solicitor.

    Prepare for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) 1 and 2 and for practice as a Solicitor. This programme has been designed in consultation with leading law firms to offer a relevant and modern course focussed on employability.

    Saudi Arabia

    Saudi Arabian Bachelor degrees are typically accepted with GPA 3.2 out of 4.0 or GPA 4.0 out of 5.0 equivalent to a UK 2:1 (second-class upper) Honours Bachelor degree and GPA 2.4 out of 4.0 or GPA 3.0 out of 5.0 equivalent to a UK 2:2 (second-class lower) Honours Bachelor degree.

    English Program Requirements

    You must have good English language skills. You must have an effective command of the language and be able to use it appropriately, accurately and fluently so as to handle complex and detailed arguments.

    To satisfy this admission requirement, you must be able to demonstrate English language ability that is at least equivalent to a minimum score of 7.5 overall (and no less than 7 in each section) in the IELTS academic test or equivalent (see our website for details of alternative acceptable tests).

    Although formal work experience is not provided as part of the programme, there will be opportunities to take part in pro bono activities via our award winning LawIRL (in real life) programme, in some instances, these opportunities may count towards the requirement to complete 2 years full-time equivalent Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) as prescribed by the SRA.
