About Bachelor of English - Professional Writing

The English (BA) – Professional Writing degree program at Appalachian State University is one of the few of its kind in North Carolina, preparing students with communication fundamentals as well as experience with different types of print media, technical and science writing, and writing for the Internet.

Graduates are assured success and flexibility in a wide variety of career options, particularly in business and industry. A required internship tailored to each student's career goals provides excellent experience for future positions in public policy, social advocacy, public relations, marketing, advertising, public service, and general communications within engineering, science and software firms. Some students choose to go on to law school or graduate school.

Faculty members have strong experience in both academia and industry, and students flourish under their guidance in small classes.
