    About Master of School Counseling

    Overview Students will gain knowledge and experience in research, testing procedures, career development, consulting, counseling theories, ethics, techniques and philosophy.Students in the School Counseling Master's program from the Central Michigan University will be prepared for jobs in elementary schools, middle schools, and/or high schools. The School Counseling option is open to students with or without a Michigan teaching certificate. Graduates may meet the academic requirements for licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC) in Michigan. I want to find another Master Course Research Opportunities and AssistantshipsSchool Counseling students may also apply for funding to engage in innovative service learning projects benefiting communities through the Counseling and Special Education (CSE) for Change program.Graduate assistantships may be available through this graduate program. Please contact the Department of Counseling and Special Education for more details. Graduate students are eligible to apply for professional development funds to attend professional conferences and events. Accreditation The school counseling program is accredited through the Higher Learning Commission, and is currently pursuing accreditation through the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
    The Master's in Counseling: School Counseling program at the Central Michigan University prepares students who wish to qualify for school counseling careers in PK-12 settings and to become licensed and/or certified school counselors.
