About Bachelor of Architectural and Facilities Engineering

Architectural & Facilities Engineering is the detailed study of how to make, revamp, and operate buildings. Facilities engineering, is similar and has the same four basic curriculum areas, but focuses on making existing buildings better. If you are interested in designing and constructing new or revamped buildings, this is the minor for you.

The Architectural & Facilities Engineering (AFE) minor at Clarkson University is housed within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), but is open to all majors. Majors in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, and Electrical Engineering, and Engineering & Management will pair best with the AFE minor.

The AFE minor builds on the success of the Clarkson Construction Engineering Management program (CEM) and its numerous impressive and national award-winning accomplishments. These application instructions are for non-U.S. citizens applying for first-year enrollment at Clarkson. If you have already earned some university credit, you should apply as a transfer student. To review your application, we need to receive all of the following materials and information according to Clarkson’s admission dates and deadlines:

Two letters of recommendation.
Test Optional-Official SAT/ACT scores, if submitted the scores will be taken into consideration during the admissions process.

Step Three

Applicants for admission who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents (green card holders) are likely to need to secure a student visa. (Students on certain visas may not require a student visa; please refer to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program document Who Can Study?)

For issuance of an I-20, students must show proof of financial support. There are two ways to show proof of finances:

Complete and return the Certificate of Finance Form included in our application packet or downloadable from our Web site. On this form you will need to show specific amounts of support and the sources of the support. You will also need to include the signatures of any sponsors or your parents, in addition to a signature from a bank official; or
Provide a certified letter from your sponsor indicating the amount of support available for each year along with a supporting letter from a bank official.
