About Bachelor of Electrical Engineering

Engineering teaches students to apply engineering methods for solving professional problems. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Clarkson University offers three ABET-accredited programs. In addition to the electrical engineering undergraduate bachelor's degree program, the department administers computer and software engineering programs.

The electrical engineering program delivers a curriculum in core areas such as electrical circuits, digital circuit design, embedded systems, computer programming, energy systems, system and signal processing, power systems, dynamical systems, microelectronics, electromagnetics, etc. Thus, as an electrical engineering major, students will have the opportunity to select elective courses in Electronics, Power, Signal processing and communications, control and robotics, computer hardware and software, and biomedical and rehabilitation engineering.

Our team-based, collaborative approach encourages students to apply knowledge and skills to solve practical, real-world problems. Teamwork and leadership skills, creative problem-solving, research and analysis, and evidence-based problem-solving, combined with Clarkson's common education, provide a strong foundation for a successful career.

Step Two

These application instructions are for non-U.S. citizens applying for first-year enrollment at Clarkson. If you have already earned some university credit, you should apply as a transfer student. To review your application, we need to receive all of the following materials and information according to Clarkson’s admission dates and deadlines:

Official secondary school transcript, mark sheets, or national exam scores.
Two letters of recommendation.
Test Optional-Official SAT/ACT scores, if submitted the scores will be taken into consideration during the admissions process.

Step Three

Applicants for admission who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents (green card holders) are likely to need to secure a student visa. (Students on certain visas may not require a student visa; please refer to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program document Who Can Study?)

For issuance of an I-20, students must show proof of financial support. There are two ways to show proof of finances:

Complete and return the Certificate of Finance Form included in our application packet or downloadable from our Web site. On this form you will need to show specific amounts of support and the sources of the support. You will also need to include the signatures of any sponsors or your parents, in addition to a signature from a bank official; or
Provide a certified letter from your sponsor indicating the amount of support available for each year along with a supporting letter from a bank official.
