You take foundation courses from all four of our academic areas: business, engineering, liberal arts, and science. At the end of two semesters, you can enroll in any major and still earn your bachelor's degree in four years. A majority of our student declare a major by the end of their first year.

Clarkson offers over 50 programs of study from the Coulter School of Engineering, Reh School of Business, School of Arts & Sciences and Institute for a Sustainable Environment. Our historic strengths in business, engineering, arts, sciences, education and health sciences remain at the core of the curriculum. But these programs have also been combined into cross-disciplinary majors, such as engineering and management, environmental science and policy, and digital arts and sciences.

Step Two

These application instructions are for non-U.S. citizens applying for first-year enrollment at Clarkson. If you have already earned some university credit, you should apply as a transfer student. To review your application, we need to receive all of the following materials and information according to Clarkson’s admission dates and deadlines:

Official secondary school transcript, mark sheets, or national exam scores.
Two letters of recommendation.
Test Optional-Official SAT/ACT scores, if submitted the scores will be taken into consideration during the admissions process.

Step Three

Applicants for admission who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents (green card holders) are likely to need to secure a student visa. (Students on certain visas may not require a student visa; please refer to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program document Who Can Study?)

For issuance of an I-20, students must show proof of financial support. There are two ways to show proof of finances:

Complete and return the Certificate of Finance Form included in our application packet or downloadable from our Web site. On this form you will need to show specific amounts of support and the sources of the support. You will also need to include the signatures of any sponsors or your parents, in addition to a signature from a bank official; or
Provide a certified letter from your sponsor indicating the amount of support available for each year along with a supporting letter from a bank official.
