    Overview The Anesthesiology program of Emory University accepts qualified individuals who desire to undertake rigorous didactic and clinical education in order to become knowledgeable, skilled anesthetists. Students enter in June, and classroom and clinical education span 27 continuous months with graduation in August - 7 semesters following matriculation.AA at EmorySince its beginning, the Emory Program sought to produce a new type of anesthetist, the anesthesiologist assistant, whose clinical and technological skills complement the traditional medical role of the anesthesiologist. This new type of anesthetist has advanced the quality and efficiency of care delivered by the anesthesia care team. The basic science education in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, physics, and medical instrumentation, along with intensive clinical training, prepare graduates to become knowledgeable, skilled practitioners and participate as valuable members of the anesthesia care team.     1A Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States or Canada, including above average performance in required premed prerequisite coursework.  A “C” or better is required in all prerequisites courses. Applicants must complete all prerequisite courses prior to matriculation, with a cumulative GPA of 3.1 or higher. It is required that applicants receive a grade of C or better in all required prerequisite courses.No more than four required prerequisite courses in progress at the time of applicationInternational applicants must achieve permanent resident status a year prior to applying to the Emory AA Program.
