Overview Our faculty bring their diverse national and international leadership, research, and clinical experience into the classroom to advance the future of midwifery care and education.Upon completion of this four-semester program, graduates are eligible to take the certification examination of the American Midwifery Certification Board. You can also pursue the nurse-midwifery program part time. Clinical ExperienceOur program faculty matches each student with clinical experiences that provide students with strong community-based primary care and midwifery practice experiences. The program offers the opportunity to work with a variety of vulnerable, underserved, and multicultural populations, both in the Atlanta community and around the state. Sites include public health department clinics, private obgyn offices, birth centers, nonprofit community health clinics, and migrant health care sites.Career OpportunitiesGraduates have opportunities for advanced nursing practice in hospital-based midwifery services and in primary care and/or women’s health care settings. Other career options are available in health care services research, nursing education, health care consulting, and community health education.

Emory has been a leader in educating Nurse-Midwives for over 40 years. The focus of the Nurse-Midwifery program of Emory University, born in 1977, is to prepare the next generation of nurse-midwives capable of leading positive change and providing the primary care needs of essentially healthy women across their lifespan, along with the care of normal newborns.
