The Economics major is a superior general education program that strives to make students aware of the critical issues in economics; to provide them with a basic understanding of the tools needed to analyze those issues; and to prepare them for (a) entry-level positions in financial, managerial and administrative areas of the public and private sector, or (b) entry into graduate and professional schools of law, business, economics, and social sciences. Among the topics covered by the curriculum are the theory of markets and the price system, the organization of industries, labor supply and its uses, the commercial banking and credit system, government finance, the national income and its production and distribution, economic growth and development, and international trade and finance. An internship program (ECO 4941) is available to qualified students.

Applicants whose educational history has not followed a curriculum patterned after the U.S. educational system are encouraged to submit their academic records to a foreign-credential-evaluation agency for a secondary-school evaluation to include a grade-point-average calculation.

- If your school follows an exam-based curriculum, you will be asked to submit official or certified copies of your exam results.
- All other applicants should submit official or certified copies of all secondary-school records and secondary-school evaluation. All credentials from non-U.S. institutions must be evaluated before the application deadline by a foreign-credential-evaluation agency to include a U.S. equivalent grade point average. We recommend a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. All academic records should be issued in the native language and be accompanied by a certified English translation.

- All transcripts/academic records that are not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations.
- To be considered "certified," documents should be true copies that are signed and dated by an educational official familiar with academic records. Any translated record should be literal and not an interpretive translation. Documents signed by a notary or other public official with no educational affiliation will not be accepted.
- If the transcript/academic record does not indicate the degree earned and date the degree was awarded, separate proof of degree is required.

How to Apply for Bachelor of Economics at Florida State University

- Students should apply for the term they wish to enroll in at the University. Students are not automatically considered for the summer term if not eligible for the fall term.
