Computer Engineering: The bachelor of science in computer engineering degree program prepares its graduates for a successful career in the interdisciplinary field of computer engineering. Computer Engineering drives improvements in the capabilities of computers and devices in fields ranging from pervasive computing to smart power systems. Computer engineers work in many industries including computer manufacturers, transportation, defense contractors, communications, manufacturing, consumer goods, financial services, biomedical, and consulting. Computer engineers can work in hardware, software, or positions that require a blend of hardware and software design abilities. Although computer engineering combines electrical engineering and computer science principles, the resulting knowledge is more than simply the blending of two fields. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) prepares students through a rigorous and broad series of technical courses that culminate in a year-long, team-oriented capstone design experience. Students in computer engineering (CpE) complete many of the required electrical engineering courses and take a series of computer science courses, as well as specialized computer engineering courses. Major technical areas of computer engineering include: networking, cybersecurity, embedded systems, digital devices, design automation, big data and machine perception. Our CpE graduates work at companies of all sizes from large multinational firms to small startup companies. Some graduates chose to attend graduate school to prepare for research or teaching careers, while others move into administrative, management or entrepreneurial positions.
ABET
The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) requires that all students graduating from an ABET-accredited program meet certain course requirements. Completion of the A.A. degree will not meet these requirements. Prospective majors should select courses after consulting an advisor.

Applicants whose educational history has not followed a curriculum patterned after the U.S. educational system are encouraged to submit their academic records to a foreign-credential-evaluation agency for a secondary-school evaluation to include a grade-point-average calculation.

- If your school follows an exam-based curriculum, you will be asked to submit official or certified copies of your exam results.
- All other applicants should submit official or certified copies of all secondary-school records and secondary-school evaluation. All credentials from non-U.S. institutions must be evaluated before the application deadline by a foreign-credential-evaluation agency to include a U.S. equivalent grade point average. We recommend a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. All academic records should be issued in the native language and be accompanied by a certified English translation.

- All transcripts/academic records that are not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations.
- To be considered "certified," documents should be true copies that are signed and dated by an educational official familiar with academic records. Any translated record should be literal and not an interpretive translation. Documents signed by a notary or other public official with no educational affiliation will not be accepted.
- If the transcript/academic record does not indicate the degree earned and date the degree was awarded, separate proof of degree is required.
