Electrical Engineering: The bachelor of science in electrical engineering degree program prepares its graduates for a successful career in the rapidly evolving and intellectually challenging field of electrical engineering. Electrical engineers can design medical devices small enough to be implanted in the human body, and power generation and transmission systems large enough to power our world; can create the smart products we use in everyday life, and communication and sensing systems used to explore under the sea and in outer space; can develop products to provide entertainment such as music and games, and products that meet our basic needs such as transportation and life-saving medical equipment. The ECE department prepares students through a rigorous and broad series of technical courses that culminate in a year-long, team-oriented capstone design experience. The department offers several areas of specialization, including computers, signal processing, electronics, communications, optical systems, electromagnetics, and renewable energy and energy conversion. Graduates in electrical engineering from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) can work in fields including microelectronics, robotics and control systems, digital systems and networking, digital signal processing, power and renewable energy, communications, and electromagnetics. Many graduates work in product development, product testing, system management, sales, and consulting. Some graduates chose to attend graduate school to prepare for research or teaching careers, while others move into administrative, management or entrepreneurial positions.
ABET
The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) requires that all students graduating from an ABET-accredited program meet certain course requirements. Completion of the A.A. degree will not meet these requirements. Prospective majors should select courses after consulting an advisor.

Applicants whose educational history has not followed a curriculum patterned after the U.S. educational system are encouraged to submit their academic records to a foreign-credential-evaluation agency for a secondary-school evaluation to include a grade-point-average calculation.

- If your school follows an exam-based curriculum, you will be asked to submit official or certified copies of your exam results.
- All other applicants should submit official or certified copies of all secondary-school records and secondary-school evaluation. All credentials from non-U.S. institutions must be evaluated before the application deadline by a foreign-credential-evaluation agency to include a U.S. equivalent grade point average. We recommend a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. All academic records should be issued in the native language and be accompanied by a certified English translation.

- All transcripts/academic records that are not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations.
- To be considered "certified," documents should be true copies that are signed and dated by an educational official familiar with academic records. Any translated record should be literal and not an interpretive translation. Documents signed by a notary or other public official with no educational affiliation will not be accepted.
- If the transcript/academic record does not indicate the degree earned and date the degree was awarded, separate proof of degree is required.
