About Master of Systems Medicine

Overview The MS program in systems medicine is housed in the Department of Biochemistry. This unique program is open to any student interested in pursuing a master’s degree in Systems Medicine. Students in this program will be introduced to advances in the “-omics”, to the emerging tools in the field and how to integrate their use in clinical practice, and to the legal, social, and ethical implications of research and clinical practice in the era of systems medicine.Thus, using recent technological advances, we will train the future generation of biomedical medical scientists to use these new –omic tools to develop better diagnostic capabilities, better predictive outcomes, and more effective treatment strategies leading to significantly improved patient care. On the research end, this will lead to better biomarkers. Our MS program in Systems Medicine has a 30-credit degree requirement and can be completed in two semesters or three semesters. Admission is available for the fall and spring semesters. The courses are designed so students will have ample hands-on experiences in all aspects of omics technology like Next Generation sequence analysis, microarray sequence analysis and mining clinical resources.
