    About

    Students in the Certificate in Transportation Systems Planning program take a minimum of four courses on topics such as urban transportation planning, transportation systems management, and transportation systems evaluation.

    Illinois Techs Master of Engineering in Transportation Engineering is a course-only, professionally oriented degree program that provides students with analytical, problem-solving, and management skills to excel within the field. This program will prepare students to become qualified transportation planners, traffic engineers, and traffic safety engineers.

    Coursework includes urban transportation planning, transportation systems management, and systems analysis in civil engineering. Additionally, students will be trained to understand and evaluate the socioeconomic impacts of transportation and infrastructure engineering projects.

    Entry Requirements

    Admission requirements are the same as outlined in the course bulletin for the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering master of science degree programs.

    Each applicant will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis during the application review process to determine any deficiency course requirements.

    English Program Requirements

    International students who fit into any of the following categories will be considered to have met the requirement:

    • Residents of a country where English is the only official language and who is a native English speaker
    • Graduates of U.S. high schools
    • Completed the equivalent of Iowa State’s English 150 or 250 with a grade of B or better at an accredited U.S. 2 year or 4 year college or university.

    CONDITIONAL ADMISSION

    If you meet all admission requirements but do not meet our English proficiency requirements, Iowa State offers conditional admission to attend our Intensive English and Orientation Program (IEOP). If you would like to enroll in IEOP, on the application choose "I would like to enroll in Iowa State’s IEOP program before I begin the academic study.”
