    The master's program in Biology offers students the option to complete a thesis or the non-thesis track.

    As part of the Master's Programs in Biology, graduate students are required to take the course BISC 535: Current Topics in Biological Sciences. The topics for this class vary by quarter as does the professor teaching the course. upcoming topics are:

    Molecular Sciences and Nanotechnology (MSNT)

    Ph.D. In Molecular Science and Nanotechnology

    This interdisciplinary program is administered jointly by the School of Biological Sciences in the College of Applied and Natural Sciences and by the College of Engineering and Science. Students possessing only the bachelor's degree and not a master's (in biology, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, electrical engineering, physics, pharmacology, or a closely related field) may be considered for admission directly into the Ph.D. program on the basis of outstanding academic achievements.

    The Concurrent Enrollment Program is an opportunity for current undergraduate to get a head start on graduate school. If you are a student currently pursuing a BS in Biology, Environmental Science, Animal Science, or Forestry, wants to continue your education towards a graduate or professional degree program, or are already participating in or wants the opportunity to participate in research on campus the Concurrent Enrollment Program may be right for you!     As part of your thesis or dissertation you will need to work with a faculty advisor to develop a research question. Our Biology Faculty are involved in exciting and diverse research from molecular biology and nanotechnology to ecology and evolution.     Entry Requirements

    GRE: Please check on GRE requirements with the coordinator of the specific graduate program(s) in which you are interested. If GRE is required, official scores should be sent directly from the ETS. The institutional code for Louisiana Tech University is 6372.

    GMAT requirements for admission to the MBA, MAcc, and DBA programs can be found on the College of Business Graduate Programs page (GMAT not required for Executive MBA, Concurrent MAcc/MBA, or Graduate Certificate applicants). If GMAT is required, official scores not older than 5 years should be sent directly from the GMAC. The institutional code for Louisiana Tech University is 6372.

    College of Business: The College of Business will waive the GMAT/GRE admission requirement for MBA and MAcc applicants with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.2. Click here for more information.

    Kinesiology will waive the GRE requirement for applications to the Master of Science in Kinesiology for applicants with an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology or a related field with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.2.     Psychology and Behavioral Sciences will waive the GRE requirement for applications to some (but not all) of their graduate programs. The GRE will be waived for applications to the Doctor of Philosophy program in Counseling Psychology for the cohort entering in Fall of 2023 (application deadline December 15, 2022). The GRE will also be waived for applications to the Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology for those with an undergraduate degree in Psychology or a related field with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.2. The GRE is waived for all applicants to the Master of Arts in Counseling and Guidance (concentration in Human Services). Questions about graduate programs in psychology?     Step 1 – Completing the Application

    TIP: You will need to have the following information handy when completing your application

    • Names and contact information for references – some programs require them
    • Names and dates of all post-secondary Universities attended where credit was attempted (whether or not credit was earned)
    • Date of most recent or highest GRE/GMAT test and the registration number. (Not required for Executive MBA, Concurrent MAcc/MBA, or Graduate Certificate applicants) The test must be no older than 5 years.
    • Unofficial transcripts for uploading
    • International students — date of most recent or highest TOEFL/IELTS test score; scores cannot be older than 2 years of age
    • International students completing ELS 112 Certification — upload a copy of the ELS Certificate
    • International student — English translation of foreign transcripts
    • Official transcripts from all institutions attended must be submitted
