Contact the College of Business to determine if your area of interest is accepting students in this particular year. Some programs accept students biannually.
Take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). A minimum GMAT score of 550 is required for admission to the program. Request that your test score be sent to the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Research, College of Business (code 6372), Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, LA 71272.
Complete a Graduate School application online and pay application fee. Along with your application, you will be asked to provide three references and their contact information.
Request official transcripts from all prior colleges and universities be sent to the Graduate School.
After your application is completed, you may be invited to participate in an interview with selected doctoral faculty. The admission decision will be made by the DBA Admissions Committee after this interview. All of an applicant's credentials will be used in making this decision.

Program of Study Requirements

DBA Concentrations

Incoming students will work with the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and their departmental doctoral faculty to develop a personalized plan of study in one of five areas of concentration:

Major concentrations (minimum of 18 hours) include Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Finance, Marketing, and Management. Not all concentrations are available to applicants at all times. DBA concentrations are only offered where faculty resources and research activities are sufficient to serve DBA students adequately. Contact the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs for available concentrations each academic year. Currently, the DBA program is not accepting students in the accounting concentration.
Twenty-four hours of business core course work to acquaint the student with the functional areas of business. These courses can be waived if the student has satisfactorily completed equivalent graduate level course work at an AACSB-accredited school of business.
Two elective areas of at least nine hours each, one of which must be Quantitative Analysis (statistics). These supporting areas offer students considerable latitude in identifying a course of study that can be tailored to the individual's interests and goals. Electives are available in Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Economics, Finance, Marketing and Management. Other electives are available, with prior approval of the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs.
Three hours of BUSN 600, which is taught only in the fall quarter. This course offers students an overview of current topics in teaching.
Dissertation (minimum 15 hours of BUSN 651).

The program of study requirements listed above are independent of each other, meaning that courses taken to satisfy one requirement may not be used to satisfy any other requirement. Any previous graduate work taken prior to admission to the Louisiana Tech DBA program may be used to satisfy these requirements if approved by the student's program committee and the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs.

Entry Requirements

GRE: Please check on GRE requirements with the coordinator of the specific graduate program(s) in which you are interested. If GRE is required, official scores should be sent directly from the ETS. The institutional code for Louisiana Tech University is 6372.

GMAT requirements for admission to the MBA, MAcc, and DBA programs can be found on the College of Business Graduate Programs page (GMAT not required for Executive MBA, Concurrent MAcc/MBA, or Graduate Certificate applicants). If GMAT is required, official scores not older than 5 years should be sent directly from the GMAC. The institutional code for Louisiana Tech University is 6372.

College of Business: The College of Business will waive the GMAT/GRE admission requirement for MBA and MAcc applicants with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.2. Click here for more information.

Kinesiology will waive the GRE requirement for applications to the Master of Science in Kinesiology for applicants with an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology or a related field with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.2. Psychology and Behavioral Sciences will waive the GRE requirement for applications to some (but not all) of their graduate programs. The GRE will be waived for applications to the Doctor of Philosophy program in Counseling Psychology for the cohort entering in Fall of 2023 (application deadline December 15, 2022). The GRE will also be waived for applications to the Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology for those with an undergraduate degree in Psychology or a related field with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.2.
