    The department of biological sciences offers a thesis and a non-thesis M.S. degree track for students who want to pursue graduate education.  A graduate degree in biological sciences allows students to enhance their career marketability and further their education.  As part of a science and technology university, our program has the unique advantage of being part of a rich history of scientific application that includes patent development, deep connections with the leading scientific and technological industries, and innovative solutions to challenging global problems.

    Graduate students in the department work closely with faculty advisors and other students to design, execute, and interpret experiments that answer basic and applied scientific questions.  We encourage interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaborations, external partnerships, and participation in regional and national conferences.  Competitively awarded graduate teaching assistantships are available for excellent applicants with an identified faculty mentor.

    Entry Requirements

    • 2 Letters of Recommendation (thesis only)
    • Transcripts (in English) from all colleges and universities attended. All unofficial copies of transcripts and scores can be uploaded to your online application for S&T to review. Upon arrival on campus, you must request that an official copy of your transcript(s) to be sent to us directly from your previous university’s registrar's office and all official scores reported directly from the respective testing agency. Once we receive the official documents, we will verify them. If there are any discrepancies between the unofficial documents you submitted, Missouri S&T will withdraw your admission and you will not be allowed to apply to S&T in the future.

    • GRE and/or GMAT test scores.* S&T’s GRE Test Center Code is 6876 / GMAT test code is RWQ-TL-82
      • Optional for master’s students applying to Spring 2022. Please note that if the score(s) are submitted it will be used during the admissions review process. Since funding opportunities are limited and competitive, students are encouraged to submit their GRE/GMAT scores in order to be able to maximize any funding they may receive.
      • GRE/GMAT will be required for Summer 2022 and beyond.
