About Bachelor of Latin American and Latino Studies

The Latin American and Latino Studies Program is an interdisciplinary program that allows students to explore the rich heritage and contemporary trends of Latino-based cultures in the United States and beyond.

Latin American and Latino Studies students greatly benefit from study abroad opportunities, although study abroad is not a requirement. The department offers different alternatives to students interested in taking advantage of this option. Students must work with an LALS advisor to select courses and determine methods of evaluation. Up to four content-specific courses from the study abroad experience may be used to complete the LALS minor.

Please note that a resume is required for Dance, Musical Theatre, and Theatre majors, but optional for all other programs.

Letter of Recommendation

For most majors, a recommendation letter is not required but is strongly encouraged. Submit recommendation letter from a college counselor or teacher.

Please note that Dance, Musical Theatre, and Theatre majors require two recommendation letters. One of your recommendation letters should speak to your candidacy for your field of study.

Submission of SAT or ACT scores is not required, but, if you chose to submit those scores, they will be considered in the admissions process.
Other factors considered in our holistic review process include: strong letters of recommendation from teachers and/or counselors; a well-written, thoughtful admissions essay; and a commitment to extracurricular engagement, both in school and in the community.
