The Departments of English, Communication, Foreign Languages and Literatures, and the Programs in Interdisciplinary Studies contribute to a minor in Film Studies that is open to students across the university. The minor provides a comprehensive introduction to the art and industry of the cinema through courses in film analysis, history, theory, criticism, screen writing, and production. No courses for the minor may be taken for S/U credit.
Admissions and Certification of Minor
Students can apply for admission to any university minor program in MyPack Portal. Admission will be based on the student's academic record, and in most cases no longer requires departmental review. The minor must be completed no later than the semester in which the student expects to graduate from his or her degree program. Students can monitor their progress toward completing the minor by viewing their Minor Degree Audit online, anytime, in MyPack Portal.
