The Graduate Certificate in United States Law provides internationally trained lawyers with a basic understanding of U.S. law and legal practice. Students enrolled in the certificate program complete a course introducing the principles and structures of the legal system in the United States as well as additional elective courses focused on U.S. law. Students will develop substantive knowledge of U.S. law and legal practice and gain foundational knowledge of the ever-changing U.S. legal environment. The program is offered in a flexible online format, and credits earned in this certificate program may be counted toward the School of Law’s Master of Laws (LLM) programs, including the online LLM, on-campus LLM, and on-campus experiential LLM.

Northeastern students will be exposed to not only a rigorous academic environment but also a fast-paced experiential one. In order to be successful in both, all first-year and transfer applicants, regardless of citizenship, must demonstrate proficiency in English to be considered for admission to Northeastern.

However, based on your academic environment and the primary instructional language in either your high school or university, you may be eligible for a waiver.
