Northeastern’s MS in Biotechnology is an innovative, non-thesis graduate degree program. The curriculum of this professional science master’s combines advanced interdisciplinary training in biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, and pharmaceutical science with the development of high-value business skills critical to success in today’s dynamic workplace. Graduates are prepared to innovate, collaborate, and lead as research, managerial, or technical professionals in a wide range of biotechnology specialties. The program is taught by respected faculty who are also senior leaders in their fields. They bring extensive experience, first-hand knowledge of industry trends, and assure that the curriculum is rigorous, current, and relevant.

The Gordon Institute for Engineering Leadership is a transformational graduate curriculum offered by The Gordon Institute in partnership with the College of Engineering at Northeastern University. Each year, a select number of highly qualified engineering professionals pursue the Gordon Engineering Leadership Program as part of a Master of Science degree in an engineering discipline or in biotechnology. Graduates of the program, known as Gordon Fellows, emerge with the capabilities and confidence to lead the engineering breakthroughs of tomorrow. Twelve of the 16 credits in the Gordon Institute of Engineering Leadership Certificate are fulfilling specific course and elective requirements of the MS in Biotechnology. The Engineering Leadership Challenge Project fulfills the MS Biotechnology co-op requirement.

English Program Requirements

Northeastern students will be exposed to not only a rigorous academic environment but also a fast-paced experiential one. In order to be successful in both, all first-year and transfer applicants, regardless of citizenship, must demonstrate proficiency in English to be considered for admission to Northeastern.

Once your application is submitted, received, and processed, you will be able to access your Application Status Check. If you are required to provide further information regarding your proficiency in English, you will be able to complete the requirement in several ways, depending on your familiarity with English, and the frequency with which you use English each and every day:

Non-native English-speaking applicants will be required to submit official and valid results from one of the following English Language Tests:

However, based on your academic environment and the primary instructional language in either your high school or university, you may be eligible for a waiver.
