Construction engineering management involves the planning, coordination, and execution of all phases of building construction projects, including design, architecture, engineering, and construction of a variety of projects, including homes, commercial buildings, roads, highways, bridges, and railroads.
Construction engineering managers are versatile problem-solvers who are responsible for ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. They combine the technical expertise of an engineer with the communication and leadership skills of managers, allowing them to pull together structural and civil engineers, architects and architectural engineers, contractors, work crews, and building owners. They may also be called on to survey job sites, address environmental issues, and ensure compliance with local building codes.
