The Political Economy Minor integrates economics with other disciplines taught in other departments within PSU, including:
- Political Science
- Philosophy
- History
- Sociology
- Anthropology
- Math
The Political Economy minor attracts students who would like to develop their critical views and perspectives.
Our small classes encourage one-on-one contact with professors and offer many opportunities for students to share their thoughts during class discussions. Most of the courses in the minor encourage research and development of ideas that are important to each student. Faculty in this minor feel strongly about the topics and bring their passions into the classroom.
The courses in the Political Economy Minor nurture critical viewpoints that encourage original thinking. Many employers look for an employee with critical and original thinking skills; who can recognize problems, initiate new ideas and approaches, and can effectively carry out related research.
Professors and instructors in this minor support students with extended office hours. This gives students the opportunity to:
- discuss research ideas
- map out a future career path
- gather information and formulate strategies for extended study: leading to law school and/or graduate programs.
