Economics explains the economic aspects of modern society and teaches students how to analyze economic problems and evaluate public policy. The major provides students with a logical structure and careful reasoning skills that are in high demand by private sector, not-for-profits, and government employers. Economics covers topics such as inflation, business cycles, international trade, tax policies, energy costs, the banking system, crime and the legal system, public finance, and economic development.
All Economics (Pre) students are required to complete a Liberal Arts minor.
All liberal arts majors prepare students with the skills identified as contributing to managerial success: communicating and listening well, possessing insights into others, creative/critical thinking, problem solving, and the ability to make connections across complex ideas.
