    Graduate education is a vital core component of our department's mission at Purdue: it helps sustain the scholars on our faculty, helps train the coming generation of professional historians, and helps refresh the undergraduate experience for the thousands of students who take our courses annually. Our department of active scholars and teachers are pursuing research in a wide range of fields, with broad regional focus on American history, European history, and global history, complemented by wide-ranging thematic coverage in the history of science, technology, and medicine, history of women and gender, human rights history, transnational history, and military history.

    • Provide three Letters of Recommendation or the number required by your graduate program. If applying to a 2nd or 3rd choice graduate program, the program with the highest number of required recommendation letters will determine the minimum number of letters to be submitted.

    For nondegree applicants:

    • Provide evidence of a bachelor’s degree (may be a transcript, copy of a diploma or a letter from your college/university verifying the degree).

    For graduate certificate/teacher license applicants:
