The purpose of the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) is to allow post graduate registered nurses the ability to become Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (AGACNPs), or allow a Nurse Practitioner in another practice area the ability to obtain additional certification which will allow them to work as an AGACNP. The program coordinator will conduct a gap analysis of applicants' academic transcripts in order to identify the courses they will need to complete in order to obtain the relevant post master's certificate. Once accepted, students will take the required courses according to their personal course sequence. Upon successfully completing the course sequence, students will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible to take the certification exam.

- Recommendations – a minimum of 2 are required for Master’s programs, and a minimum of 3 are required for Doctoral (Ph.D.) programs.
- Statement of professional objectives – Provide reasons for pursuing the program applied. Describe how you will use this program to reach your career goes, and educational goals beyond the master’s level if applicable. Students should also identify personal qualities that they want the committee to see in them, such as leadership, concerns for others, talent, etc.
- You can upload the required documents to your application portal once you submit your application. Additional items may be required depending on the program applied.
