With a growing demand for computing literacies, the Fundamental Computing Certificate of Undergraduate Study (CUGS) program offers a series of courses to introduce students to a comprehensive study of various domains where computing is applicable. Students may explore areas such as programming in various languages, creating mobile applications, developing literacy in webpage authoring, exploring computer network and data communications, and examining information security. Ultimately, these experiences may then be extended and applied to individual student disciplines and is intended to attract student who wish to increase their marketability within a diverse domain of computing literacies.
The CUGS in Fundamental Computing is targeted for non-matriculated and matriculated students in non-computer Science majors, non-computer and informatics majors with an interest in the various domains where computing may be applied.
Students have the opportunity to gain exposure to the computing in which computing impacts multiple disciplines in contemporary society. It provides students with requisite knowledge and skills to keep current and their enhance marketability across industry. No prior experience or knowledge of computing technologies is required.
