The doctoral program in Educational Leadership provides the highest professional degree available to students who are leaders in educational institutions.
Our executive-style doctoral program is designed to follow a cohort model in which graduate students typically begin the program as a group and complete the program together. To accommodate working professionals, doctoral students attend face-to-face classes one evening per week at the SHSU Woodlands Center.
The SHSU doctoral degree in Educational Leadership prepares graduates to be scholar-practitioners and inquiry-driven leaders. The degree requires several research courses and a dissertation (an independent research study). Upon degree completion, most of our graduates are promoted to leadership positions in schools, school districts, education service centers, and educational consulting or community organizations. Our research and theory focus also prepares graduates with the qualifications needed to apply for education-related faculty/instructor positions in community colleges and universities.
Evening classes are offered at The Woodlands Center.
