Overview Students in the B.A. in World Languages at Southern Methodist University must complete six more credit hours in the primary language than the secondary language for a total of at least 23 credit hours of course work beyond the first-year sequence in the primary language and at least 17 credit hours in the secondary language.In pursuing language study, students gain communicative proficiency in a second or third language, as well as cultural proficiency and heightened global awareness.
